Electro Acupuncture

Electroacupuncture integrates insertion of acupuncture needles with electrical stimulation, employing a range of frequencies and intensities selected according to the specific condition under treatment.

It stimulates your body’s natural pain relief system by activating sympathetic nerve fibres. This triggers the release of built-in pain fighters like endorphins, helping to ease both inflammation and discomfort.

What to Expect During an Electro acupuncture Treatment?

During an electroacupuncture session, your acupuncturist follows the standard needle insertion procedure. Subsequently, they connect a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machine to multiple needles positioned across a specific area or channel of your body. Gradually, they introduce a low-level electric current, generating sensations in the treatment region. It's essential to note that the experience is typically not painful; instead, individuals commonly describe feeling a gentle tingling, buzzing, or warmth.

Unlike a standalone TENS machine placed on the skin's surface, the connection to the needle enables the current to penetrate deep into the muscle and fascia.

Given that muscles and fascia act as electrical conductors, the current from electroacupuncture can catalyze repair processes in connective tissues, addressing issues like muscle tears and ligament damage. Its penetrative nature allows it to traverse joints thoroughly, alleviating inflammation throughout. This depth surpasses superficial techniques like massage and traditional acupuncture, which may not reach as internally.
